"stop"是初中英语中一个常见的单词，在考试中也常出现，但其用法很多同学却总是弄不清楚 。今天，梦想君在这里再次对这个单词进行一个简单的总结，希望同学们更全面地掌握！
一、stop作名词，表示“停止、中止”、“停车站” 。
The bus came to a sudden stop.公交车突然停了下来 。
We put a stop to their fight just now.刚才我们中止了他们的争论 。
The bus stop is over there.公交车站有那儿 。
二、stop作及物动词，可以接名词，代词、动名词或动词不定式
1. stop something
They stoppped a car and asked how to get to the hospital.他们拦下了一辆汽车，问去医院怎么走 。
We have stopped our actions because of the accident.

2. Stop doing sth 停止做某事（强调停止正在做的事）

We stopped playing football when we saw you on the playground.当我们看到你们在操场上时就停止了踢球 。
The baby stopped crying as soon as he heard his mother’s voice.不孩子一听到他妈妈的声音就不哭了 。
3.stop ...from ( doing) sth 阻止……做……
The police stopped the car from running ahead because its overspeed.
由于超速 ， 警察阻止这辆汽车继续行驶 。
People plant lots of trees to stop the wind from blowing away the earth.人们种了很多树阻止风把泥土吹走 。
三、stop作不及物动词
Stop!停下来！
She is too tired ,she has to stop to have a rest .
她太累了，必须停下来休息 。
They stopped to smoke a cigarette. 他们停下来,抽了根烟 。
注意：stop to do 强调停下（某事）去做另一件事，而Stop doing sth强调停止正在做的事 。两者容易混淆，要注意区分 。
